He entered the room spinning a rugby ball, announcing that he and a mate were hatching plans to build a bonfire on the beach and have a barbecue.

I got the impression that the timing of this, like the ball, was up in the air.

I'd assumed he must've had a rugby training session. But no, it seems he's just happier with a ball in his hands.
