Samuel Pepys Library Building.

Magdalene College, Cambridge.
This is the Pepys Building, built mainly inthe 1670's, although planned earlier.
The west front shown here is neo-classical in Ketton stone, the only part of the college not in brick, but the back is like a Jacobean manor house. The building contains the 3,000 volumes of the library of Samuel Pepys.
Although the appearance of the building is delightful, it is slightly asymmetric in places. The frieze inscription, Bibliotheca Pepysiana 1724 records the arrival of Pepys library, and above it , his Coat of Arms. The Arms above the other arches are those of benefactors.
