Max Le Grand

A thrill. I am holding the actual camera Max Le Grand used when he changed from using film to digital. Max was a prolific photographer who captured many great icons of Formula One in 60s and 70s - Characters like Moss, Hill, Stewart, Hunt. Many of his images crop up today on TV and a large collection of his work is held in Stanford University's library. Max died in his early 70s around 2-3 years ago.

So, how come I am holding this camera?  His son and fiancée visited us today and we asked them to bring the camera with them.

Now interestingly the camera is a Fujifilm Finepix S100fs. It was launched in 2008 and although it looks like a DSLR, technically it is a point and shoot!
Max was never into the technology, although he was incredibly skilful, he was more interested in the story associated with the image.
