Drumlanrig Castle

Today our club walked a circular walk in the policies of the Duke of Buccleuch at Drumlanrig Castle.

Drumlanrig Castle is situated on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway.. The category A listed castle is the Dumfriesshire home of the Duke, and a very fine pile it is too.

We walked from the castle, which is open to the public in the summer months but not today, along a high path above the River Nith, then over farmland and paths and eventually after seven miles back at the castle.

The weather was kind to us, the forecast had not been too good, but in the event we had no rain, although dull, and no wind either, and near the end of the walk we even had some sunshine.

We had a break at the village of Thornhill, and of course headed for the pub for an hour..... always great chat after a walk.
