Stuff and Nonsense

Harvest Caye, Belize

Today we have been in Belize. We docked at Harvest Caye, a private island owned by NCL. When we arrived it was raining, but that nice warm rain that you get in the rainforests, not the cold miserable rain we have at home!
We had opted to go on a jungle river rafting excursion, so headed over to the mainland and inland to the rainforests.
We passed through some interesting countryside and arrived in bright sunshine. When I say rafting, we didn't actually get to paddle ourselves, it was more of a float down river with a guide, 4 people to a raft. We got to see some rain soon after we set off and then it cleared up and we dried off in the sunshine. I was a tad disappointed at the lack of wildlife, as our previous experience of a float down a river in Costa Rica resulted in many different species of birds, iguanas, even crocodiles. This time we just saw a few birds, a dragonfly and a couple of butterflies, but it was a very pleasant 90 minutes indeed.
Whilst we were floating along, we passed some Mayan houses, children playing in the river and a lady washing clothes.
It was a bit of an early departure as it's a long way to Key West, so we didn't see much of the island at all, but everyone said that the facilities were great. Apparently it was only finished last November, so it's all new and clean.
We only have a couple more days and our cruise will be coming to and end - a day at sea and then Key West.

Thank you all for dropping by and leaving lovely stars, hearts and comments. It's much appreciated.
