No more football here

No more Sunday games, in fact no more games will be played here as trees begin to grow in the pitch and the bulldozers move in.   A wonderful stadium, less than 25 year old, has stood empty for several years because a buyer could not be found and local teams couldn't afford the upkeep.  The complex was built by Max Griggs the owner of Dr Martens shoe company hence the Airwair stand.  In 1992 he bought Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds football clubs and merged them into one club as Rushden and  Diamonds football club with enjoyed league status for a time. In 2005 the stadium was sold to the fans for £1.
