Keeping up a tradition

Preston Guild 2012, the first of the new millennium, kicked off today with the Trades Procession. It seems rather prosaic with all the motorized vehicles and commercial logos, but maybe the medieval equivalent of horses and livery looked equally ordinary in its day. It was certainly impressive - I spent over an hour walking past the procession in the opposite direction. It took over the town, and the market was deserted.
