Unidentified Aircraft (over Montrose), 1942

Had quite a long wander around the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery today, while B was at an athletics meeting. This was one a of a small collection of wartime paintings. The painter was Edward Baird, and it's oil on canvas.  The commentary says "this eerie wartime painting shows a deserted winter townscape.  Three strangely similar faces search the sky.  There is no sign of an aircraft, but the whole atmosphere is one of tension and unease.
