Last day of the performing arts festival. Pieces featuring movement (whether dance or acrobatics) are still my favorite for their exquisite geometry. So that's what you're getting as a main blip.

The extra is part of today's "youth summit" featuring works from the city's young adults to showcase how art can impact a community. This piece, called 'Dare to Dream' was played by young incarcerated women as part of a program using theater to share their pain, challenges and aspirations. It was impressive and I approached the program manager to see if I may work with them to help document what they do. 

The juxtaposition of the young women performing one minute -- just as any other performers were -- and then being taken back to the prison van and put in shackles was jarring. It's all about life circumstances...
