Unconfined!

"They're adapted for hunting birds in confined spaces like dense woodland" is how the RSPB website describes the Sparrowhawk's habitat, but In the last couple of days, I've seen them right out in the open. This one was a long way from me (hence the lack of definition) right in the middle of an open stubble field! It was a lovely day and I had a bit of a drive round between a doctor's visit and a meeting at Longshaw. There were skylarks singing, hares chasing and small flocks of birds flying around. Spring was definitely in the air. I've signed up for some bird surveys at Longshaw - one on nest box habitation, one on woodland birds and one on Whinchats. Looking forward to them!
