Strathcona

Strathcona sounds more pleasant that Glencoe. It is said that Lord Strathcona (Donald Smith a Scotsman who made his fortune in Canada) took the name in preference to the latter because of the negative associations of the bloody mass murder which took place in the glen 200 years earlier.
This is one of three lochans he created in the glen to remind his wife's family of their distant homeland.
The circuit of the loch is easy and very flat and not one that would normally attract us, despite the beauty.
