Sap or fungus or both?

Strangled by ivy
and all chopped limbs infected,
strength sapping away

Eye-catching orange
disease oozes from each branch;
death is imminent*

*Of course - it might not be disease, it might be the tree's defence mechanism saving its life - a bit like green snot when our body fights a cold?
