Broom? or Bruffam?

Should you, perchance, be a ''furriner'' crossing the country by way of the A66 you will pass through/near Brough. If you stop and ask, you'll learn it's pronounced ''Bruff''
(As in rough).
You approach Penrith and see a signpost to ''Brougham Castle'', pronounced not ''Bruffam'' but ''Broom''.

We decided to go blip-hunting today, the weather being clement++.
Result:- 70-80 assorted shots from a selection of cars, youngest 40ish, another look down a well, one or three through an arrow-slit.
Not to mention the MASSIVE ripples down a second well as one of my better Vaping machines vanished for ever, after we moved from Brougham Hall to Brougham Castle.

On the way out of the hall grounds ''one of us'' spotted this and all others slid into oblivion.
