Pacific Coast, Highway 1

Early-ish start and made our way to egg slut for breakfast as chosen by Caroline. Fab choice as well, we all went for a Slut each, basically egg and mash potato but it tasted amazing, topped off with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Its true what they say, everyone in LA is beautiful and all seem to be people of leisure. We explored the Grand Central Market a little before deciding we needed to make tracks. We headed out of LA going North, through Malibu. First stop was for Caroline, El Matador state beach, known for its rock formations. She wanted to have a nice photo under the rock and being the very kind older sister I obliged. What I also saw was how far some of the waves were coming in so got her to strike a pose and wait for me to take a great series of photos with a wave coming in and hitting my completely oblivious sister, very, very funny. We made our way back to the car and frustratingly stood in oil which was a job to get off our feet! All cleaned up and we carried on up the Coast. Next stop was Santa Barbara. Such a quaint little town and wish we had more time to explore, sadly only time for a quick Smoothie before we had to go again.
Lots of stunning views of the coast all the way up and a nice easy drive. We even saw some dolphins in the surf. We decided to stop off at Morro Rock, another place we needed more time at, just for a few photos and a coffee. We saw our first Sea lions, they seem to make noises remarkably like Harry, my parents dogs, bark which was a strange sound of home.
We hit the Big Sur and I feel like I have found home, I have never seen sights so beautiful. We stopped for some food at the only restaurant on the Big Sur and had the nicest salad I have ever eaten. The waiter was lovely, filling up our iced tea over and over. He also made some napkin flowers for Caroline and I. Quick toilet break before the last part of the journey.
I was really looking forward to seeing Bixby Creek bridge but sadly we lost the light for good photos, but managed to get a glimpse.
Just before our arrival at Monterey we stopped at a small restaurant that had some kind of party going. We only stopped to use the toilets as we were running late but I would have loved to have stayed and had a dance to the great Mexican music that was coming out of the bar area.
Made it into Monterey much later than planned so straight to bed as an early start tomorrow.
