Instruct the Ignorant

This is a memorial in Bradford Cathedral to Abraham Balme - founder of the Bradford Canal.  The canal joined Bradford to the Leeds & Liverpool canal at Shipley.  It was 3.5 miles long - but in 1922 it was closed and filled in.
"Instruct the Ignorant" is the First Spiritual Work of Mercy.
Somehow I don't think the 'Ignorant' were too enthused about being instructed :-)
