another evening's walk

I try to go for a walk along the Ythan estuary every day, say hello to the seals and see what's new. A different canvas everyday as the light changes. It was noisy today, hundreds of black-headed gulls were gathering on the sandbank / mudflats this evening (see extra).

The mystery of my perculiar find (see last blip) has been lifted and is not as exciting as I tried to imagine. A buoyancy aid from a remotely operated underwater vehicle! Maybe one that got lost and never returned to its owner, as they sometimes do.

Had I known this the day before I would not have bothered lugging it 3km across the dunes so I can show it to various people. Now it will be a nice curio in my rockery.
