Spawning morning

What a beautiful warm, sunny day.  I went over to spend some time in the boathouse/hide at Elford and was greeted by the regulars; robin, nuthatch, wren, dunnock, chaffinch, bluetits, great tits and long-tailed tits.  A brimstone butterfly flew by and I became aware of a strange noise like a distant trials motorbike.  This grew louder and I realised that it was not a farm lad having a bit of fun but was frogs mating in the pond in front of me.  There appeared to be a large male attending to the needs of at least five females and together they were producing a large mat of frogspawn.
