Henna Hands

The young woman making the henna tattoos at the Farmers' Market didn't mind my getting close with the camera. It's probably old hat to most folks, but I was fascinated, never having examined this work before. The material goes on as a thick paste squeezed from a tube with a delicate nozzle (it looks a little like puff paint), and is left on in that 3-D form for several hours to set the dye on the skin. After the paste is washed off, the tattoo will last for several days. I haven't succumbed. Yet.
