Golden Buddha

Bhutan is a Buddhist country with over 90% of the population being practising Buddhists. Every house has an altar which is worshipped daily.

This Gold Buddha ( it is made of bronze but finished with gold leaf) took seven years to erect. It will take another 5-10 years to finish the site completely.

From the plinth on which he is sitting, Buddha rises to over 50 metres! The people in the shot show just how awe inspiring this statue is.

Bhutan is said to be the happiest country on earth. This may or may not betrue but the people are so gentle, it cannot be far wrong.
