Pentlands (again)

It looked like a crisp day so we decided to go up Meikle Says Law the highest of the Lammermuirs. There was surprisingly little snow and it wasn’t as wet underfoot as we thought it might have been, The hill, a Marilyn, is on a sporting estate that obviously does a lot of Grouse shooting as there are shooting butts everywhere. However as the day was quite mild the Red Grouse were out in force shouting for mates, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in such a small area. Are their guests pathetic shots or do the Grouse keep their heads down in August? We also saw quite a few Blue Mountain Hares, standing out in their winter coats. It snowed when we were on the top, but soon cleared to give this great view west of the Pentlands.
