North Shields

We left the shores of blighty as a watery sun set behind growing clouds. The sea was calm and the ferry felt fairly empty as we settled in to our commodore class cabin for the 15 hour crossing to Ijmuiden.

The journey  was uneventful. When we woke in the morning a wood pigeon was balanced on the ferry's handrail. It looked exhausted and clung on until we were into the port on the Dutch side.
