The Warren

Visited this wonderful building today, a large country house built in 1882 by Walter Maximillian de Zoete, a Dutch banker. Some of the outbuildings have Flemish-style stepped roofs, an unusual sight in rural Kent. It is now home to the Metropolitan Police social club, and it was the venue for the wake following the final farewell to a friend's 99-year-old mother. RIP Doris, a lady who loved glamour, lipstick and finery to the last.
