Tiger's Nest: Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan

The snow we were expecting today arrived, but fortunately, just a few millimetres. We set off for the Tiger’s nest in ideal conditions, albeit quite cold. The trek took three hours, but was worth every minute of the pain!

The monastery sits at 10,000 feet and the air was a touch thin. Carrying a backpack of camera gear was not easy at my age!!

The blip is the classic picture postcard image, but if you would like to see more of just how this fabulous iconic monastery sits on the side of the mountain on just a narrow shelf, take a look at a few more images I have posted here. They will also give you some idea of the effort it takes to reach it.

My apologies for being unable to reply to your comments at the moment, we are on the move a lot and internet is not as fast as one would like. It has taken me about 2 hours to upload the blip!
