Lazy stroll down to Leigh on Sea with a wander through the old town and old port followed by a delicious brunch at Stop the World cafe, who describe themselves as "Purveyors of all things nice ...". It's a busy spot with great food.

Old Leigh lays claim to nearly a thousand years of fishing. Local trawlers were at one time bawleys (probably named for having a boiler for cooking shrimp), and two of Old Leigh's pubs - the Peter Boat and Ye Olde smack - owe their names to types of local fishing boat. Today, local boats land, process shrimps, lobster, crab, sea bass, haddock, cod, mackerel, cockles, whelks, mussels and oysters. Get your seafood here folks.
