1192

This is Mack Cal Fire truck 1192. She was put into service in 1997. Although, it seems she would be a youngster in most vehicle comparisons, she has clocked over 3500 hours of wildfire fighting and fought in over 100 fires. She is about to be retired from service to the California Wildfire Agency known as CalFire or CDF. I was told she will be given to another city or county agency to continue service until she is either outdated or breaks down beyond repair. Many are lost in service during the fire season each year. 1192 has served California well.

1192 was taking a break so her crew could have dinner after fighting a wildfire blaze in Northern California - Covelo fire, over 40,000 acres, 62 percent contained as of last night. Her dirty looks are well earned.

A salute to those who continue to fight fires as a daily career. Saving property and lives on a regular basis while putting their own in peril.

With respect.
