The tree surgeon came to call

Here is the tree surgeon thinning out the hawthorn at the bottom of my garden. It's a lot brighter there now! It was sunny today but a bitterly cold wind with snow in it so he must have been glad when he got to the sawing part (and of the cups of coffee).

I did some washing and as I was getting it in from the line I heard a scuffle in the hedge below the tree. A sparrow shot out followed by a sparrowhawk. I think that the sparrow must have escaped the attack as it had a  good start on the hawk. Needless to say, I didn't get a shot!
