London

Some horrific news coming out of London today. When a policeman is killed in action, it is easy to only see them as a faceless representative of a large institution, simply doing a job, wearing a uniform, patrolling their beat. The families they have, children expecting them at parents evenings, arranged summer holidays, the horrendous jokes they tell and the pudding they steal the last of after Sunday dinner are rarely imagined. Dreams and futures stolen for them and their families in a moment. Their compensation? A poor salary, challenging working hours and for some a lifetime of psychological issues. My little brother is a Policeman and I am very proud of him!
