I knew Bangkok was going to be busy and big but I could have never imagined quite how huge the city was spread.

Our main mission today was to visit the Grand Palace in the centre, this would be quite a challenge as we knew it would be busy as the country is in national mourning for their king who died last year.
Bhumibol Adulyadej was the king of Thailand until his death in October of only last year and he was loved by his nation. From what information I've read he truly was a man of the people and was the longest serving monarch in Thailand.
His body is now at the palace for Thai people to come and visit and pay their respects and they can do so for a whole year before he is cremated. Millions of people all dressed in black are visiting and seeing the queue to the room in which he lies in state (only Thai people are allowed) it's going to be a long and hot time.

The Grand Palace covers a huge area with several points of interest inside including a temple which holds the famous Emerald Buddha which is quite a beautiful creation but unfortunately no photos allowed.

As we were about to leave the Palace after a good few hours, so close to the exit we were all ushered to the edge of the road by military personnel, we waited and waited to see what the hold up was and eventually two cars one containing the Princess drove by which was a great treat.

Later on we visited more streets and more temples one which contained a Buddha made from 5.5 tonnes of gold allegedly (see extras).
