Now, as I see it......

Stones of Stenness

Another grey and cold day today, although thankfully the rain held off. Our last day here so we went round a few places we wanted to see but hadn't so far. These are the Stones of Stenness ( http://www.orkneyjar.com/history/standingstones/ ) that date from at least 3100 BC and are near to another, more complete, stone circle, the Ring of Brodgar. Between the two is the Ness of Brodgar which is still under excavation and can be visited later in the year when the dig is under way. Apparently some of the discoveries being made there are completely changing archaeologists' views on the way people migrated to Scotland all that time ago.

We set off for home tomorrow and as we plan to do the drive in two days rather than the three we took to get here, we will be driving for at least seven hours. I will Blip something at some time, but don't hold your breath for it being anything special!
