Roll out the barrel

( I had to call it that really didn't I?)
Our son gave LooseCanon a voucher for a tour around The Cotswolds Distillery, Stourton in the depths of the Cotswold countryside.
We went with CoffeePotter and Nikonabike and two other friends.
Sadly I had to drive, but they give the drivers their tasting samples to take home which I'm really looking forward to later!
The distillery was set up by an American who worked in the City and got fed up with making money and decided to plough some of it into  this business instead. It's  a very long term project as whisky has to mature for three years and a day to even be able to be called Whisky, but then the longer it is matured in barrels the better. They use bourbon barrels , wine barrels , sherry barrels etc and each imparts its own character.
Meanwhile they are producing gin which is very popular at the moment and much quicker to make. There was straight gin plus lots of other concoctions, all delicious according to LooseCanon who came home and had to have a sleep, because he was ....... 'tired'.
We went for a pub lunch after the tasting and a short walk over the nearby hills in glorious sunshine. A fantastic spring day and belated birthday celebration.

The photos show barrels stacked up outside , empty I presume,  and the extra is the maturing whisky in the barn.
