Pray silents

And here we are at the 2017 Hippodrome Festival Silent Cinema, with a gala screening of the 1928 movie The Patsy starring Marion Davies, who is best remembered as the mistress of William Randolph Hearst. Because of the character inspired by her in Citizen Kane, people in later years came to assume that she was incredibly untalented, like Kane's Susan. Well, if you watch this movie you see that she was a brilliant comedienne - EdiSteve and my favourite scene sees her impersonate such fellow stars as Mae Murray*, Lillian Gish and Pola Negri ... hilarious. And new score played live by The Sprockets was a real treat.

* I am pretending I have heard of Mae Murray...
