Croc on wood

Was this abandoned deliberately or just lost? In either case why just one? There is not much sense in throwing away one of a pair and I can't help thinking that it is quite hard to lose one shoe and not notice (arrgh I've just stepped on something and hurt my foot).

I have only ever seen abandoned / lost Crocs or trainers by the roadside. Perhaphs that is as good as it gets here in Hicksville Hampshire and if I were to venture out in a more affluent area of (say) London, I might find the streets of Kensington & Chelsea paved with the odd abandoned Gucci loafer or lost Louboutin heel?
