Snowdonia D1

We met the group from New Hall this morning at Pen-y-Pass.
A pleasant bunch of 12 kids and 4 adults.
After a LOT of kit faff (seems the norm for Duke of Edinburgh nowadays) they still set off with ridiculously large packs. As my group are 4 boys and 4 girls from China they all look hugely over burdened.
Wrong straight from the car park (this is a gold) would have been funny - but i had to intervene as the road is lethal - eventually i left them at the Pen-y-Gwryd and drove round to Wales's finest mountain (see extras). But passing Lynnau Mymbyr it was mirror flat and i knew as I walked down to it that it would be todays blip.
The groups painful slowness meant that i had time to play on Tryfans North Ridge - taking spicy little detours to pass the inevitable student and club groups. I didn't pause on the crowded summit, instead I then made my way down to the bwlch and across to Lynn Caseg-fraith to meet 8 exhausted kids and two exasperated teachers. Having set off at 8.30 am by 2.00pm they weren't even half way. A strong bit of suggestion and then some replanning on their part and we had them into camp just after 6pm.
