One field, two cows, four calves

Here is a field, a field of two halves;
Whose turn is it to mind the calves?

Went for a lovely l-o-n-g walk in this afternoon's sunshine. We took the back country lanes, sheltered from the wind, to come out at Blackpool Sands. No sign of the humpbacked whale today. (This week she got caught up in ropes attached to lobster pots. Divers successfully released her, and confirmed that she is a female with a calf nearby. Perhaps her unhappy experience has scared her away?)

Apologies for the quality of this photo, but I took it on full zoom and in bright sunshine that created strong contrasting shadows. Found it interesting to see how one cow seemed to be baby sitting while the other was enjoying peace and quiet. I wonder if they do take it in turns?

All of which tells you that, at last, we have had a lovely sunny day, albeit with a sharp, chilly wind. Remember to put your clocks forward tonight! British summer time officially begins tomorrow! (Clock the Extra where I found time to play on Photoshop!)
