A Museum Day

Dear Diary,

Elaine and I returned to Minneapolis to visit the Turnblad Mansion and the American Swedish Institute to see the opening of an amazing exhibit, The Weather Diaries.  The exhibit which was part installation and part photography "explores the roots of West Nordic fashion and the inescapable impact of nature and weather in developing a centuries-deep cultural identity in Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands."  (Extra photographs)

As my main image I chose this endearing sculpture on the roof of the ASI which pays homage to the Nordic tradition of sod roofs mowed by goats.  In the summer there is outdoor seating nearby.

We finished our visited with a delicious Swedish savory waffle of ham, golden raisins, orange marmalade, rosemary and an orange reduction.  I accompanied it with a rosemary cream soda...yum!
