Ice and Moss

Today we travelled through to our next hotel, further along the south coast of Iceland.  We stopped at a variety of locations including a lovely green mossy area, a glacier, an abandoned farm, and finally at the ice lagoon.

The first location was a large expanse of volcanic rock that had been colonised by a green moss.  We were challenged to come up with three pictures to give a flavour of the location - one wide, one medium and one close up.

The farm was really interesting.  It was a private location that our tour organisers had gained access to from the owners.  The farm was used for years but has now been abandoned, though the land around it is still farmed.  There was even a small chapel beside the house.

The ice lagoon is amazing.  It's a lake at the bottom of the glacier.  Ice chunks break of the glacier and float around the lagoon, eventually following a river out to sea.
