Open

These fungi do open rather quickly. I swear they were tight caps before I turned my back and now look at them!

These were about 8 inches (20 cm) tall but the caps are only about an inch high (3 cm). They obviously don't last long as there was another cluster of the same variety that had already begun to decompose into a black, white and grey sludge.

I know nothing about fungi but I do rather like them. I went around the back of my house this evening looking for drips and instead I stumbled upon a blanket of different fungi. Truly, I photographed 6 different varieties just in my backyard - and there could well have been others I missed.
