A Collector of Oddities

Bird photography

Ages ago my husband gave me a book on bird photography called A Field Guide to Photographing Birds by Dr Mike Hill and Gordon Langsbury from someone having a cleanout. It is from 1987 and briefly mentions a newfangled technology called "Autofocus" where your camera or lens will focus automatically! It is still being developed but will probably be very useful some day.

It is very interesting to see how far equipment has come in the last 25 years. However the nature of birds and their propensity to fly off just as you get your camera set up has not changed. So I thought I might share this ingenious method for photographing shy waterbirds.

Does anyone here fancy floating themselves and their camera across a body of water while balanced on an inflated inner tube?

No?
