a slug of gin
a pin
an old toothbrush
method:
steep small things for 24 hours
give the hard to reach crevices a jolly good poking 
brush with a manky old toothbrush
buff with silver cloth
result:  shiny sparkly small things

book:  finished Commonwealth by Ann Patchett in the early hours - VG -  and started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs...a work of young adult fiction that forced me to stay in bed reading until after lun too late!  a quarter left to go.
