"QUELLE BELLE ATTENTION"

This morning the postman popped this small package in my box. It contained a short letter, an acorn, a handful of oak leaves & a bunch of lichen.

was sent by dear friend L who knows that Wistman's Wood is https://www.google.be/search?q=wistman's+wood+walk&rlz=1T4GUEA_enBE715BE719&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj2lJD19PnSAhUmIsAKHVvTAlsQsAQIPQ&biw=1920&bih=901#spf=1 one of my favourite places.

The name "Wistman's Wood" is already magical - these oaks are ancient natural bonsais - the soil is so poor & so sparse that almost none of them grow above three metres tall. They are fuzzed all over with this lichen... Some of them are over 1000 years old.

Showed it to Cécile, and she said, "Oh, quelle belle attention! - C'est trop chouette!" = "Oh, what a lovely thought! It's too nice!"
