to watch over

I'd looked through the window before coming in the door but had only been checking for people sitting awake on the sofa, not lying on the floor where they'd fallen asleep and been tucked up by their mum and with their big brother's pig tucked in beside them. He was only there for a few minutes, almost certainly as a result of having spent popped through to our room five times between 3am and 4am, determinedly shuffling through again each time (always shutting the door behind him) a few minutes after being popped back where he should have been.
