A fitting farewell

Today we said goodbye to mum. It was a poignant day - filled with memories, reflections, some tears but also laughter. The music we chose seemed to reflect mum perfectly - especially the photo slide show to 'Thank You For The Music' from Mama Mia. Julie and I both spoke about our memories of mum - but with a touch of playful humour intended to lift the air of solemnity. Mum would have appreciated that I'm sure.

We had a large representation from the care home staff, another mark of how much she was loved there - and consequently missed.

We continued celebrating her life at the Harvester, as mum and I had spent many a happy afternoon having lunch there - culminating with a Sundae Best ice cream. Yesterday though it was a buffet, while we talked, looked at old photos and reminisced with friends and family.

Once all our guests were gone, Julie and I finished the proceedings with a Sundae Best - and raised a spoon to our mum.
