Burnholme School

This is the front of the original building. This mixed school was opened in Bad Bargain Lane in September 1948 just after I was born. The children attending the senior department of Tang Hall school were transferred to the new building. There were 560 children enrolled in 1956.  Due to a rapidly increasing population - post-war baby boom. several ground floor extensions were built. These later additions have now been demolished as the school has closed. The original buildings are to house the Tang Hall Library and act as a community hub while the rest of the site is to be redeveloped into a care home and more housing (affordable?). Watch this space.
