South from Kame of Stews

I walked from St Margarets Hope over the hill to Eastside, along Newark Bay beach and up onto the cliffs. Lots of skylarks singing, lapwings calling and a couple of snipe drumming. It got sunnier and warmer as the day went on. Other birds included 18 shovelers near St Peters Kirk, a snow bunting on the shore, a great northern diver on the bay. At the clifftop I saw an old quarry and went for a look- they often attract birds. I thought a small bird was a redstart- it turned out to be a black redstart after being checked over by a proper birdwatcher! Still- another new South Ron bird for the list!
