Tepache

He wanted me to try a local drink which I had never tried before.  No cost he said.   I did not see any bodies littering the area so thought it might be a safe bet.  It was pretty good, in fact, and I imagine he may now have a new customer.

Tepache is a fermented beverage made from the peel and the rind of pineapples, and is sweetened either with piloncillo or brown sugar, seasoned with powdered cinnamon, and served cold. Though tepache is fermented for several days, the resulting drink does not contain much alcohol.  (The amount of alcohol is debated, and I imagine it depends on the variation.)
