Pepper Tree

The pepper trees have started to fruit, so I thought that rather then just wonder if they are related to the kind of pepper I have on my kitchen counter, I'd do some research. Turns out they are not related at all, even though when you break off a leaf, it does smell just like black pepper (and makes me sneeze!). The trees are called Schinus Molle, they originate in Peru, and the pink peppercorns are sometimes blended with black peppercorns, even though they are not the real thing. Interesting? Not really, but I'm glad I know now!
