A Tiny Treasure

A dreary, dank, drippy day today.  As I was preparing to get in the car to run some errands this morning, my eye was caught by this tiny little nest which was perched in the middle of a bush next to the barn.  I'm quite sure it's one that was used last year, so I carefully moved it from the tangle of branches where it was resting, and moved it to a nearby stone the better to capture its beautiful construction.  In addition to a network of little twigs that have been masterfully woven together, there are several hairs from Rubicon's (our resident horse) tail, some plastic filaments, and some fibers from some sort of baling twine.  What a creative and resourceful little architect!

Extra shows just how small this little home is.
