Creative week - day 1

The start of our creative workshop took us to Black Crag, Yew tree tarn and Hodge close, where I took this composite image of a silver birch tree.

I did reduce the size of the individual 20+ pictures before trying to align them. I think part of the charm of this technique is not to perfectly align the photos, and the slight differences in exposure. To maintain the effect of many small prints, I added a drop shadow to each of the layers.

I'm feeling quite sad about this tree - I've photographed it many times in different seasons, but if you look closely you'll see that someone has cut right around the bark - which I believe will kill the tree! :-(
