Late afternoon sunshine at Abingdon weir

The Pilates this morning did set me up for the day. I got a lot of work done; at around 5pm I managed to escape into the sunshine!

Cycled to Waitrose the long way round: via Abingdon Lock and Abbey Meadow. The Thames was looking glorious although I was mystified as to why there was only a single passenger on the large pleasure boat passing through the lock as I pushed my bike over it.

This is an Environment Agency barge sitting near the weir. They seem to be numbering all the weir gates with fancy name plates. I read in the local paper that they will be emptying the lock in November to carry out repairs so maybe it has something to do with preparing for that.
