Gows on a lum

Or if you're not from North-East Scotland(*): "seagulls on a chimney" :)

Last year, we had gulls nesting on the ledge next to our chimney pots. Not only did their offspring have hair-raising adventures that kept our hearts in our mouths for days on end, the little so-and-sos started making a racket at about 4am every morning. This year we've had that ledge seagull-proofed. I've still seen them perched on the chimney pots themselves, but surely they wouldn't nest THERE...?!?

This shot, though, shows them sizing up our neighbour's chimney and its ledge...

(* Maybe I need to be more specific than North-East Scotland... According to the RGU Doric Dictionary: "If you’re from Peterhead, you might refer to a seagull as a ‘pyool’ but in Aberdeen, the same bird would be known as a ‘scurry’. And in Buckie it’s a ‘gow’ "!! )
